Types of Cord Strapping Materials:
- Steel Cord Strappings:
These are the most robust and strong strapping cords available to use for any heavyweight load. They do not bend or break easily, thereby perfectly secure to use for any heavy-duty load. Steel is the most durable strapping material and can’t be outclassed by any other strapping material because of its boundless strength.
- Polypropylene Cord Strappings:
These are the most economical and commonly used strapping cords available to use for light to medium weight loads. They have a decent stretching ability which is suitable for a strapping cord to prevent breaking out. Their flexibility makes them very versatile to use because they don’t slack easily.
- Polyester Cord Strappings:
These are equally as good as polypropylene strapping cords. They are easier to take care of as compared to polypropylene strapping cords. However, they are not as economical as polypropylene strapping cords but are an excellent alternative to steel strapping cords because they have very high strength. - Woven Cord Strappings:
These are such cord strapping, which are made by weaving the material together. These cord strapping have double strength and resistance as weaving is done in two-way passages. Thereby woven cord strappings are extra durable and strong than bonded cord strappings. They are good to use for any heavyweight load.
Cord Strapping Accessories:

- Cord Strapping Buckles:
These are used to secure the strapping and lock it in place. Cord strapping buckle comes in very handy when strapping cords around your load at home by yourself. You have to move the ends of your strapping cord through the buckle, and your strapping cord will be threaded securely onto the buckle.
- Cord Strapping Seals:
These are used to seal the two ends of your strapping cord to lock it in place. However, it can’t be used without a sealer or crimper. You will need to get a tool with your seals to do the strapping cord thing at home. These seals also come in three different categories; open seal, closed seals, and serrated seals.
- Cord Strapping Tensioner:
This tool is used to
achieve the desired tension in your strapping cord. Once the desired tension is
achieved, the tensioner cuts the cord, and then you use a buckle or seal to
lock the ends. Even if you are doing your cord strapping at home, you are still
going to need this tool. Otherwise, the tension in your strapping cord won’t be
ideal for your load, and it will cause a disaster later.
